Quotes to Convince You to Chase the Job of Your Dreams
7 Quotes to Convince You to Chase the Job of Your Dreams.
“Sex is good. But have you ever tried to quit the job that you hate?” Psychologist M. Labkovsky.
Have you ever thought of changing your job? Then you definitely should!
The thing is, we have these kinds of thoughts for a reason. Maybe you don’t like the company you are working for, maybe the boss is a real pig, maybe the co-workers do not value you as a team player, maybe the problem is in low compensation. There can be thousands of reasons to hate your job, but there is only one way to solve them: Find a new one!
Finding the job of your dreams
Wait a minute, I am not telling you to quit your job immediately and wait for the vacancy of your dreams to fall from the sky right on your head. What I am telling you is, if you think you deserve something more than you already have, then everything is in your hands.
Let me tell you my short story. One and a half years ago I graduated from a Masters’ program in economics at a very good university. I was studying far from my home country, so I didn’t have a chance to study and build my career at the same time. Coming back to my home country, I was expecting to receive the most interesting and promising job offers.
Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. This is how I started working in a company with very low standards (I believed that anyone even without any diploma could do the work I was doing there). Within the first couple weeks I was so depressed, every morning preparing for work I felt like I was wasting my time and my knowledge on a useless job (JK you can never lose your knowledge, but I was creating drama). I didn’t quit, just because I thought that doing something is better than sitting at home. At the same time, I didn’t give up on finding the job in which I knew I deserved.
Guess what? I quit my job last week and started fresh in a new company and in a new position (we’ll see if this one will make me happy)!
The hardest thing in finding a new job is realizing if you really need one and believing that you deserve something better. It was clear to me. I never felt like I was in a suitable place. So, I continued searching. I made myself a promise to send my resume to at least one company every day. Even if I didn’t find the position perfect for me, I applied anyway. I did this in order to remind myself of my own goals. You know, all that routine, people can get used to everything. And one-two months later you may get lazy and go on working in the place that doesn’t make you happy.
On the journey of finding the job position that I wanted, I read many books about the psychology of work, self-esteem, and depression. I’ve found many motivational quotes there. They were so good, so I wrote them in my notebook to be able to read them anytime I need. Today, I want to share them with you! And maybe they can be helpful for you as well.
7 Quotes that will help you find a job of your dreams.
#1 “Do not agree to compromises, do not agree to do the job that you feel is not for you, do not work on a position that you feel is not yours ” M. Labkovsky.
The first citation is the most empowering one. The author is like right here sitting in front of you. He knows what you’re thinking, he knows everything about your job and he totally understands you. With these words, he is telling you that it is NOT OK if you hate your job, and the right thing to do is to get what you want.
#2 “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door”. M. Berle.
The 20th-century TV-guru knows what he’s talking about. The new job will not find you if you will not work for it. Get yourself ready. Learn the market (vacant positions, areas, companies), renew your CV (maybe with the help of a professional), take advice from your friends or family about new opportunities, and become active.
#3 “Have some patience and courage and believe in yourself” M.Labkovsky.
Achieving something that you want always takes time. Get patient. This is tricky actually. You should balance between 2 borders: not to stay at your current job for too long (because in the end, you might just give up), and not to agree to any first job offer. Be picky.
#4 “Your salary is always equal to the amount of money that you feel you deserve” M. Labkovsky.
One more time: You get what you think you deserve. The most powerful tool in finding the job of your dreams is to value yourself. However, it is always better to have standard market-level expectations, otherwise, you might get very disappointed.
#5 “Only changes are constant. Get ready to them” D. Gregory.
This is my favorite one. I like books by D. Gregory. I’ve already talked about one of them in my post here. What I understand from his words is: we should always be ready for changes. The world is developing with the speed of a comet, and so is the market. Being flexible is a number one quality. Don’t be afraid of learning something new or trying yourself in a new area. Who knows, maybe yesterday’s accountant will find his happiness in digital marketing.
#6 “The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.” S. Jobs.
No matter how long it will take to realize what you want from your new job, it should make you happy. Happy people are more productive. I don’t think S. Jobs ever considered his job as a “job”. It was his life. He was passionate about his work. Finding your passion sounds so cliché (don’t worry, there are so few people in the world who know how to do that)… Let’s just start from finding a job, that doesn’t make you sick.
#7 “I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions.” S. Covey
Once you’ve started thinking that you need a new job, the only hard thing is to make a decision. Make a decision to be free from circumstances and to be open to opportunities.
All these words have helped me to believe in myself and find the courage to keep searching for a new job. Sometimes, people around me didn’t support me, but it’s okay, people are afraid of uncertainty. As long as I believed in my dreams and in my feelings, I was sure there was something better for me. Find your “Better” and start a happier life!
P.S. Catch a bonus citation! Very modern and unique (sing):
#8 “Work, work, work, work, work, work.
You see me I be work, work, work, work, work, work” Rihanna
